Biljana Baker

Biljana is a watercolour artist who resides in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
She was born in Yugoslavia, came to Canada in 1964 and grew up in Toronto. After high school she studied
Fashion Design and Fine Arts at Ryerson University and upon graduation was employed in Toronto as a Fashion Designer.
The softness and
spontaneity of watercolours are the motivating factors in her unique presentation and innovative mat carving adds another
dimension to her work. She has participated in numerous shows in Canada and the United States and has sold her paintings worldwide. Biljana has studied with many prominent artists and this has led to a career teaching
watercolours in Thunder Bay at Confederation College, the 55plus Centre, and the Learning Through the Arts program.
She is a member of Lakehead Visual Arts, Six Degrees of Freedom, Definitely Superior Art Gallery, and Artisan's Northwest. She is a member of the Mayors Task Force on Clean, Green, and Beautiful, and is the former chair of the Public Art Committee
for the City of Thunder Bay.

Biljana wishes to express her gratitude to the Ontario Arts Council for a grant recommended by the Thunder Bay Art Gallery through the 2010/2011 "Exhibition Assistance Program". This OAC grant was used in support of her exhibition with Six Degrees of Freedom at the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery in September of 2011.
